Vasil Barbov is a partner at Ivanov and Partners and head of the firm’s Sofia office, where he leads the real estate, construction and tax practices. With more than a decade’s experience representing local and international clients, his areas of practice include corporate law, real estate and construction, tax law, dispute resolution, and administrative law. 

Practice Areas

Real Estate & Construction

Vasil works with construction contractors, property management companies, real estate investors, developers, luxury hotel complexes and high-net-worth individuals.

Skilled in spatial planning law, he advises on land status, valuation and taxation, urban planning, and drafts and negotiates agreements in relation to real estate developments and construction in Bulgaria.

He also represents real estate clients in commercial transactions, debt recovery and ownership disputes, employment law and in administrative law matters such as obtaining planning permission.

Vasil has gained recognition in the Legal 500 EMEA as a member of Ivanov & Partners’ dispute resolution team, which is noted for its work in construction disputes.  

Tax Law and Accounting

Vasil is the head of Ivanov & Partners’ tax law and accounting practice, advising individuals, small and medium enterprises and large corporations on commercial transactions, corporate income tax, VAT, local taxes, and in tax disputes.

Administrative Law and Procedure

Vasil has considerable experience in administrative law and procedure advising all types of businesses on the processes required to obtain government permissions. He also assists clients with appeals and challenges to government agency decisions.
